Janssonius provides hotel comfort on board one of the most robust and technologically advanced polar cruise vessels, perfect for cutting easily through the ice-filled waters of the Antarctic and Arctic regions.
The sister ship of Hondius, the first passenger vessel in the world to meet Polar 6 registration criteria, Janssonius also complies with and, in fact, exceeds Polar Code regulations adopted by the International Marine Organisation (IMO). You can therefore be assured of travelling on one of the toughest ice-strengthened vessels in the world. Janssonius also features a range of sustainable technology, including LED lighting, steam heat, plus power management systems to ensure maximum fuel efficiency and minimum CO² emissions.
Built in 2021, Janssonius has been designed to make the most of all wildlife viewing opportunities and maximise chances to explore the polar regions. It incorporates advanced stabilisers and engines capable of powering the ship up to 15 knots, speeding up response times when wildlife has been spotted.
Among the other facilities onboard are a large observation lounge, plus a lecture room for workshops, exhibitions, and expert talks in multiple languages. In addition, three separate gangways and indoor Zodiac boarding areas help to ensure that passengers can board the boats quickly and efficiently, reducing any waiting time.
Janssonius offers a wide variety of accommodation for up to 170 passengers, designed for families, couples and groups. All the 80 cabins – four quadruple porthole; two triple porthole; 27 twin porthole; 14 twin window; 11 twin deluxe; eight superior cabins; eight junior suites and six grand suites with balconies – have en suite facilities, plus flat-screen TV, safe deposit box, hairdryer, desk and chair. Deluxe and superior cabins, junior and grand suites also feature a refrigerator, coffee and tea making facilities and bathrobes.
