Durban, a former home of Mahatma Gandhi, who nurtured his passive-resistance philosophy here, has a strong Indian and colonial influence that can be experienced in the culture, cuisine and architecture and is unique in Africa.
Just north of the city is Umdloti, an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the sunshine, beaches, rock pools and sea.
