Located in Port Hardy, the Kwa’Lilas Hotel is the perfect base to explore the wildlife and nature of the northern regions of Vancouver Island, in addition to the rich indigenous cultural heritage.

Kwa’Lilas is a Kwak̓wala word meaning a place to sleep. The Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw elders chose this word in the hope that guests would find a peaceful rest after a day of exploration on Northern Vancouver Island. The property is the only indigenous run 4-star hotel on the north of the island and takes inspiration from the local area, and its rich cultural history.

Upon entry, guests are greeted by a stunning 5-metre wide centrepiece depicting the history and the legends of the Gwa’sala Nakwakda’xw people before checking in.

The hotel features a number of rooms and suites of varying categories, with some enjoying mountain views. Each of the en suite rooms is decorated in a modern design with local indigenous artistic expressions, and comes equipped with flat screen TV, climate control, complimentary WiFi and delicious Spirit Bear brand in-room coffee service.

Facilities include the Ha’me restaurant with cuisine inspired by the local people and the Nax'id' pub offers a convivial place to relax along with meeting and event spaces.
