Combining its historical castle setting with the wildlife of the Otago Pensinula, Larnach Castle Lodge is the perfect place for discovering the wildlife and history of this area of the South Island.
Set within the castle’s grounds alongside the original historic castle stables and over the foundations of old farm buildings, the lodge is a purpose-built replica of a colonial farm building offering 12 themed guest rooms. From its position you can enjoy spectacular views of the harbour, ocean and surrounding peninsula and enjoy strolls around the 35 acres of gardens and grounds.
Rooms are designed to encapsulate Larnach Castle’s history while offering all the amenities you would expect of a hotel. The lodge is situated on the seaward side of Larnach Castle which means bedrooms offer views over the harbour and ocean. Your stay includes breakfast but you may wish to take the opportunity to arrange with the lodge to dine in the castle where a three-course menu, reflecting traditional New Zealand cuisine, is served house party style giving you the chance to meet other guests.
Staying on the Otago Peninsula means you are closer to the unique wildlife experiences on offer, such as the royal albatross colony and the yellow-eyed penguin reserve.
