Situated in the wildlife rich Khwai area, on the north eastern side of the Okavango Delta, Machaba Camp offers luxury tented accommodation built in the classic 1950’s safari style.
With just ten luxury tents, each with en suite facilities and private outdoor showers, it provides a quintessential safari experience overlooking the Khwai River. Machaba is independently owned and run, and the food served at the camp is a delightful mixture of local cuisine which is often enjoyed under the stars at night.
The Khwai Concession is a 180,000 hectare reserve, adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve, where elephant, leopard and lion are regular sightings. Camp activities include game drives, which operate in the morning, afternoon and evening at the camp and visit the nearby river systems and flood plains. The wildlife in the area is prolific with chances to see the larger predators, herds of elephant and buffalo, and a variety of plains game. Night drives operated in the early evenings offer a chance to see the smaller nocturnal species with a spotlight.
Other activities include excursions by mokoro (dug out canoe) depending on water levels, walking, game-viewing from the tent, spa treatments, relaxing in the pool or visits to the local community.
Machaba's sister camp, Gomoti Plains, is also located in the Okavango Delta.
