Serondella Game Lodge is a fabulous boutique safari lodge with a family focus whilst maintaining privacy and creating a home away from home feel in the Thornybush Game Reserve.
The word Serondella means 'The Place of Elephants' in Xitsonga and is a fitting name for this property, situated around one of the most active waterholes in Thornybush with the terrestrial giants often coming to hydrate themselves throughout the day amongst a plethora of other species. The property can be booked on an exclusive-use basis, perfectly catering for trips with family or friends, with full control of their schedule. Independent room bookings are also possible, providing an intimate stay for couples looking to utilise the seclusion of their suite for romantic trips.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a stunning exterior facade with hanging lights, leading into a comfortable lounge space with outstanding local artwork, before the room opens out onto the expansive deck with infinity pool and wonderful views of the lodge waterhole. This area acts as a central gathering place where couples and families or friends can relax together, children can play and where meals are served when not in the lodge’s boma. A fence surrounds the lodge perimeter, ensuring that dangerous wildlife are unable to enter the grounds, giving parents peace of mind as their carefree children make the most of their holiday. Additional facilities include a wellness spa and gym overlooking riverine bush, providing spaces to both indulge and work up a sweat as you unwind in this tranquil paradise.
Two private suites (sleeping two people) and one family suite (sleeping four), with a shared living area, are positioned under the trees along the edge of a waterhole. A larger self-contained suite (Willem’s Den) sleeps up to six and is located to the rear of the lodge grounds and offers views of the bush, with a private boma. All suites have indoor and outdoor showers, air-conditioning, comfortable lounge and outside decking with plunge pools.
The lodge staff offer the finest hospitality with two butlers always on hand to cater to your every need and a specially curated guiding team ensures a first-class safari experience on both game drives and bush walks. The guides are well versed in providing information in a child-friendly manner and keeping youngsters entertained throughout game drives. A range of activities are provided to keep children entertained, from tracking footprints to creating bush-inspired crafts and much more.
