Explore Bremer Canyon on this small-group expedition, observing orca and their remarkable natural behaviours alongside dolphins, seals and seabirds, led by expert naturalist Tim Stenton.
Each austral summer, around 300 orca gather in the nutrient-rich waters of the Bremer Canyon, Western Australia. On this small group expedition, we spend multiple days at sea in search of these magnificent cetaceans, maximising every opportunity to observe prolonged encounters and remarkable behaviour, from socialising and spyhopping to hunting and feeding. Other possible species we may encounter include sperm and pilot whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, and a wealth of pelagic seabirds.
Our expedition days are spent aboard the purpose-built 23-metre catamaran Alison Maree, travelling around 70 kilometres offshore from Bremer Bay to Bremer Canyon. Three spacious viewing decks, an air-conditioned social area and panoramic bridge provide excellent vantage points, while the onboard marine biologist and experienced crew share their knowledge of the wildlife and ongoing research. There are also opportunities to contribute to citizen science by recording sightings and behaviours.
Our six days at sea are combined with a full-day guided excursion exploring Bremer Bay's pristine beaches, sheltered bays and river landscapes, with opportunities for birdwatching and other wildlife encounters.
