Escape to the pristine beauty of Greenland's Scoresby Sund on an intimate expedition. Explore colossal icebergs and encounter an array of Arctic wildlife, immersing yourself in the untamed wilderness of East Greenland.
Embark on an awe-inspiring adventure, in the company of just 12 fellow explorers, delving into the depths of Scoresby Sund, the world's deepest fjord system. As you navigate stunning fjords, you can encounter magical Arctic treasures, from imposing musk oxen and splendid birdlife to playful pinnipeds and ocean giants, including humpback and fin whale.
Explore by Zodiac and glide among iridescent ice sculptures and magnificent glaciers. On land, enjoy guided hikes across the wild Arctic tundra, where encounters with musk oxen, Arctic fox, and an array of bird species are all possible. You also visit the remote settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit, where the spirit of Greenland’s culture thrives.
Harp, ringed, and hooded seals are all likely sightings, and bird species include northern fulmars, eiders, Arctic terns, and a variety of gulls. While sightings of polar bears and narwhals are rare, the possibility adds an extra layer of anticipation to your expedition.
From September onward, you have the best opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring northern lights. Although not guaranteed, you may have the chance to marvel at this natural wonder amid pristine mountain landscapes, free from light pollution, in one of Earth's most picturesque locations.
We're delighted to also offer this itinerary as a special photography focused expedition. Ideal for those looking to advance their photography skills and travel with other like-minded photographers. These voyages take place during the latter half of September, the optimum time for encountering the northern lights, and are led by an Arctic photography and northern lights expert.
