Join us for a dedicated photo safari in Panna National Park, where we spend an entire week searching for tigers and other iconic Indian wildlife, all from the comfort of a delightful riverside lodge.

We have quite a portfolio of dedicated wildlife photo safaris in India, and off the back of the huge success of our single-centre safaris further south, we're delighted to launch this trip to Panna National Park. This spectacular national park has a different feel to many others in Central India, with a drier climate and more sparsely vegetated landscape. It's also one of the country’s conservation success stories, with the once threatened tiger population now thriving.

The exquisite wildlife, jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery and charming accommodation make this the perfect base for a dedicated photo safari. We have six full days to explore the dry forest, scrub, grasslands and dramatic gorges of Panna, hoping to build an in-depth portfolio of stunning images. An obvious draw is photographing tigers, and is undoubtedly the main focus of our time here. However, the park offers good opportunities to find and photograph leopard and sloth bear, alongside a host of other mammals such as chital, sambar, nilgai and chousingha (four-horned antelope). Throughout our time here, we can also photograph an array of spectacular birds, including blossom headed parakeet and red-headed vulture.

Exclusive use of two safari vehicles and a small group size ensure the best possible wildlife viewing and ample space for photography. For those that are interested, there may also be the chance to enjoy a boat trip on the Ken River, a perfect opportunity to capture some more stunning imagery of the region’s varied birdlife.

You are accompanied throughout by wildlife photographer Bret Charman, who has over 15 years of experience travelling in India, there are opportunities to hone your skills both in the field and in the comfort of the lodge.

  1. Day 1: Fly from UK to Delhi

  2. Day 2: Arrive in Delhi & Fly to Khajura. Transfer to Sarai at Toria

    Accommodation: Sarai at Toria, 7-nights

  3. Days 3-8 : Panna National Park

Over the next six days, we discover the majestic landscapes and habitats of Panna National Park. This is undoubtedly one of India’s most spectacular parks, and here we can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in search of the best wildlife photography. Our primary focus is the resident tigers, while leopard and sloth bear can also be excellent subjects when the opportunities arise.

There's plenty on offer here in Panna, and we endeavour to photograph as much of the wildlife and scenery as possible. Langurs and peacocks are always popular subjects, while other large mammals such as chital and nilgai make for some stunning photography in the right settings. One of the big draws in Panna are the huge cliff faces (which are waterfalls after the monsoons), and as well as spectacular landscapes, they offer the chance to see and photograph vultures.

During our stay, there may also be the chance to enjoy a boat trip on the Ken River, granting us some excellent opportunities to photograph some of the spectacular birdlife that call this wonderful landscape home.
