This unique expedition blends icons of the Kimberley with remote offshore reefs, offering opportunities for snorkelling, wildlife encounters and flexible, small-ship access to one of Australia’s most untouched and biologically rich regions.

This 11-day expedition reveals the raw beauty of the Kimberley, travelling between Darwin and Broome (or vice versa) along one of Australia’s most dramatic and least accessible coastlines. Towering sandstone escarpments, vast tidal systems and deep river gorges define this remote region, where each day brings a new perspective on the immense scale and geological history of the region. From iconic sites such as King George River, Montgomery Reef and Horizontal Falls to secluded inlets and mangrove-fringed waterways, this small ship cruise is shaped by the rhythms of tide and opportunities for wildlife.

What sets this itinerary apart is its reach beyond the mainland to explore pristine offshore ecosystems in the Timor Sea. Rowley Shoals, Ashmore Reef and Scott Reef offer exceptional water clarity and thriving coral habitats, creating ideal conditions for snorkelling and close-up encounters with marine life. This blend of rugged coastal exploration and remote reef systems provides a more varied and immersive experience than a traditional Kimberley cruise, with an emphasis on in-water discovery and guided tender excursions.

Wildlife is ever-present, from dolphin, turtle and dugong in tidal channels to seabird colonies across the Lacepede Islands. Offshore, vibrant reefs attract pelagic species, while ashore, short walks reveal ancient Aboriginal rock art and resilient flora and fauna adapted to this harsh yet beautiful environment. Led by an expert expedition team, the itinerary remains flexible throughout, allowing you to make the most of each opportunity in this extraordinary and ever-changing wilderness.
