To celebrate Nick Acheson’s return to tour leading with Wildlife Worldwide, we’ve partnered with Chelsea Green Publishing UK to secure you a discount on his brand new book: The Meaning of Geese: A Thousand Miles in Search of Home.
Many of us took up hobbies during the lockdowns - reading, gardening, DIY, baking sourdough and banana bread - but for Naturalist Nick Acheson, the pandemic inspired an epic adventure. The Meaning of Geese is the story of how he found purpose in a seven-month, 1,200 mile cycle journey (the exact length of the pink-footed geese’s migration). Born and raised in Norfolk, Nick has a life-long love for wildlife and particularly the wild geese that arrive there in their thousands every year. His book is an intimate diary of his sightings and his experiences with the geese-loving communities he met along the way.

A Note from the Author
I'm thrilled to be sharing my native Norfolk (and other sites around the UK) with Wildlife Worldwide clients again. I've missed the joy of helping people learn to identify new species and witness our wildest natural spectacles.
My book The Meaning of Geese came about in the winter lockdowns of 2020-21. Stuck at home with no work and no people, I got on my mother's 40-year-old bicycle and followed Norfolk's thrilling flocks of pink-footed and brent geese.
Over seven months I cycled 1,200 miles and I wrote a book which charts the wild lives of the geese, the changing landscapes and climate in which they live, and the love that is felt for them in Norfolk, along their migrations, and in Iceland where pink-footed geese return in summer to breed.
