Bert Rähni

Bert Rähni is a highly experienced wildlife and birding guide, with more than 20 years of leading nature tours throughout Estonia’s forests, bogs, and coastal regions. He's the founder and driving force behind the Baltic region’s first and still only dedicated brown bear watching hides.

In addition to guiding, Bert also co-manages the Alutaguse Bear Forest Project, which focuses on habitat conservation and research on both brown bears and the Siberian flying squirrel.

In western Estonia’s island archipelagos, he has contributed to restoring semi natural habitats and has taken part in Baltic ringed seal research. His conservation work also includes volunteering on lynx and wolf projects, and he serves as a member of Estonia’s Large Carnivore Roundtable under the Ministry of the Environment.

Alongside his mammal research and conservation efforts, Bert has long guided birdwatching tours, with a particular enthusiasm for owls and forest grouse species.
