Matt Collis

Closer to home, his guiding often follows a desire to seek bio-abundance, such as chasing the thousands of wintering geese in the Netherlands, witnessing the great knot murmurations of Norfolk, or sharing his specialist knowledge of the spectacular starling murmurations of the Somerset Levels.

Alongside guiding, he works as a professional ecological consultant, supporting both infrastructure projects and private estates with ecological restoration and species reintroduction support. Hazel dormice and beavers are his particular favourites, and he continues to dedicate significant time to their conservation.

Matt is also a profession tutor, running courses for both the public and fellow professionals, believing that excellent tuition empowers others to play an active role in nature’s recovery. So whether guiding guests through foreign landscapes or uncovering the ecological treasures of the UK, Matt is committed to creating experiences that inspire connection and bring hope through better ecological understanding.
