Matti Komulainen

Matti's love for nature was started when he went out birdwatching with his father during the 1960s, and ever since, the natural world has been an integral part of his life.

Matti has spent many years working for bird observatories located throughout the Finnish archipelago, researching and recording migratory bird species. Matti also enjoys birdwatching outside Finland, having travelled to countries in North America and other parts of Europe which has given him a wider knowledge of birds globally. Matti has been leading groups since 2000 and, nowadays, predominantly leads groups in Northern Finland and Norway after moving to Kuusamo 2019. He's also fluent in English, Swedish and German.
