Grantown-on-Spey is a traditional Highland town dating back to the 1760s. It is in the county of Moray, 14 miles north-east of Aviemore on the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

Grantown-on-Spey lies in the Highland Council Area, historically Moray County, beside the River Spey. It was named Grantown after Sir James Grant. Situated between the Cairngorms and the ski area of Lecht, it’s a popular base for those exploring Strathspey, for winter sports, and for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts. It has an 18-hole golf course and also makes a good base for followers of the famous Speyside Whisky Trail.
