The Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty area covers 25% of the county and this charming area encompasses varied ecosystems and spaces for nature.

With three national nature reserves and 42 local nature reserves, Surrey is an excellent place to enjoy nature. Its varied habitats including heathland, meadows, woodland and wetlands support a wealth of wildlife. Notable species include Dartford warbler, bittern, nightjar, hazel dormice and butterflies including silver-studded blue, Adonis blue and chalkhill.
