Standing at the road-end just a few minutes’ drive from the park offices, Blue Magpie Lodge has 12 simple but comfortable rooms with verandah, fan and en suite bathroom with hot water.

Birders will enjoy the opportunity to see more than 20 endemic species in the surrounding forest – particularly in the early morning. The huge virgin forest reserve of Sinharaja - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and international Biosphere Reserve - is home to a remarkable variety of endemic species, and the local guides and park wardens are extremely knowledgeable.

The restaurant serves first class Sri Lankan food and the nearby river is a perfect spot for a refreshing dip after a forest trek.
