Tucked away from the busy northern circuit, Ndutu is a peaceful lodge which offers access to excellent wildlife and makes a good stopping point en route to or from the northern reaches of the Serengeti.
Situated in the south-eastern part of the Serengeti ecosystem, the lodge is shaded by majestic acacia trees, and surrounded by plants that attract a host of birds and mammals. The 34 cottages are built of stone and thatch and this makes the interiors naturally cool due to the thick walls. Each room has an en suite bathroom featuring showers, sink and flushing toilet as well as a private verandah facing Lake Ndutu and the natural unfenced landscape of indigenous trees and shrubs outside your cottage. Marshlands, acacia woodlands, soda lakes of Ndutu and Masek and the vast expanse of the Serengeti plains are all within easy reach.
Dining at the Lodge is in the central heart of the lodge with views over the broad vista of the plains onto Lake Ndutu in the distance. Lunch and dinner are served at your table with a generous 3-course menu of deliciously tempting options for lunch, and a hearty 4-course dinner served each evening.
The evening campfire is a legendary part of Ndutu life. For decades, this has been the time and place where after a day’s adventures, wildlife photographers, trackers, safari guides, filmmakers and natural history experts have gathered in the evening calm after day’s exploration.
