It offers the promise of eternal spring weather, plus magnificent views of the Hagen Range, Mount Giluwe, the Sepik Divide, the Baiyer Gap and the Wahgi Valley. The accommodation consists of 12 rooms, all of which have 180 degree views, a modern bathroom, plus electric blankets and continental quilts for the cool highland evenings.. The main building houses the lounge, bar, dining room, conference centre and a cozy fireplace.
The surrounding area is home to ten species of birds of paradise and numerous orchids; various trails start right from the lodge, so it’s easy to get out and see the area’s unique ecology. The high altitude forest behind the property is home to Macgregor’s bowerbird, brown sicklebill, Stephanie’s astrapia and the superb bird of paradise, while a little further afield you may see black sicklebill, bufftail sicklebill, King of Saxony bird of paradise and the short-tailed paradigalla.
