Tanzania

Tanzania is a remarkable country, home to the 2-million-year-old remains of the Nutcracker Man discovered by Dr Leakey alongside those of prehistoric Elephants and giant Ostriches, this really is the 'Cradle of Mankind'. Tanzania is said to have the largest concentrations of mammals found anywhere in the world and it has set aside a staggering 26% of its land area for the preservation of its natural heritage. Surely the two most famous of African wildlife destinations - the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti - are both in Tanzania, and will always be an unequalled attraction for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Add to this the remote parks of the west and south-east, the beaches and culture of Zanzibar and good airlinks with the rest of Africa and Tanzania is hard to beat!
